Overview
Basic Attention Token (BAT) is the token issued by Brave, the famous browser created from the Javascript founder. The purpose of the token is to be used for marketing. The whole BAT ecosystem works in a way that publishers are paid for their content and users are paid for their attention while bringing more value to the advertisers for their money spent on their ads.

Step-by-Step Guide to receive Free BAT Tokens:
1. Visit the Brave airdrop page.
2. Download the Brave browser on the airdrop page.
3. Open the Brave browser and enable “Brave Rewards”. Click the BAT small icon in the top right of the browser interface. You should see a grant available and then you will be able to claim the free BAT tokens. Sometimes the grant is not available immediately, you might have to come back later to check for your grant.
4. After you have claimed the free grant you will receive 30 BAT tokens instantly. Note that supplies are limited so sometimes grants are not available. If you don’t see the Claim Grant button, it might be because tokens for that period have lasted.
5. An important thing to mention is that 30 BAT tokens are not withdrawable, but can be used to tip publishers. So you can tip your friends or you can simply tip yourself. The steps to tip yourself are described below.
6. You can also earn $5 in BAT tokens for each referral that you bring to the Brave browser.
7. To get your referral link you have to register first here as a publisher, to do that click on “Become a Creator”.
8. You have also the option of Brave Rewards where you can view ads to earn free BAT tokens daily.
How to withdraw 30 BAT tokens by tipping yourself:
1. After completing all the steps above, register as a publisher.
2. Once you are a verified publisher, add your website or youtube channel to your brave publisher account.
3. After adding your website to the publisher account click on “Claim”.
4. Open the website or the Youtube account in Brave browser.
5. You will see the BAT icon a colored small triangle on the top right of the browser interface. Click on it.
6. A pop up will appear with the tipping options, where you can choose to tip all the 30 BAT to your website or Youtube channel.
7. The 30 BAT then will appear on your publisher account and can be withdrawn any time you want.
On 8 March 2019, Brave reported that its private ads platform enabled the "Brave Rewards" feature available to the general users. Brave will share 70 percent of their revenue with the brave browser users that choose to view ads. That means that users of the brave browser will be able now to earn BAT in case they choose to view ads and they can claim their earned BAT at the end of each month.
